'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martinez Praises Loan Keeper Konstantopoulos

Roberto Martinez praised loan goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos after his late penalty save gave the Swans a share of the points at Doncaster yesterday.

Martinez didn't think it was a spot-kick as with 4 minutes remaining Darren Pratley fouled James Hayter.

The Swans boss said:

Don't get me wrong I never thought it was a penalty, but Dimi is a specialist in that department,'

'You can see in training that he seems to have a sixth sense.

'I think he looked really natural.

'It's important when you bring someone that he knows the way we work, the way we play and he knows the players around.

'He's worked extremely hard in training and he was ready for today.

'He fit in really naturally. He's a very calm influence, which is important in certain moments in the Championship. He's desperate to play. 'He's been away from the pitch for a long time and he's an important member of Swansea City.'

'I asked the referee and he said that he (Pratley) pulled the player around the neck.

'I think the Doncaster player is pushing Darren Pratley first and between them two they are trying to stop each other. 'It was a very, very rash decision.

'You have to be 100% in thos decisions, but those things happen in football.

'Referees have the hardest job in football and I'm just delighted the way we reacted to it.'
