Painter Out For Six Months ?

Painter Out For Six Months ?

Defender Marcos Painter could be out of action for a minimum of Six months with anterior cruciate ligament damage of the knee.

The 22 year old was carried off in the 3-0 win over Southampton at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday. Further scans will be taken tomorrow morning to asses the full extent of the injury to the former Birmingham City man but it looks likely that defender will be out of action for six months a bitter blow for Painter who was beginning to make his mark in Roberto Martinez's squad.Swansea City physio Richie Evans is hopeful that scans will provide some better news.

Evans Told The BBC

"It is going to be a long term one.We fear Marcos has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament. We analysed the video afterwards and there was no contact by an opponent and Marcos said he heard a snap. If it is an ACL injury, that would mean approximately six months out for Marcos. He'll undergo an MRI scan on Monday and we certainly hope for the best."

Whilst Manager Roberto Martinez has expressed his disappointment over the second injury to hit his squad in a week but believes it will be another test of the strength and depth of the playing staff at the club.

Martinez Told The BBC

"It is disappointing to suffer another footballing accident. Marcos boot was locked in the ground and his knee gave way a little. It is disappointing for us but we now hope Marcos recovers quickly. Now we will have to wait and see exactly what the injury is and we hope for the best. But it is another test of the strength in depth of our squad."

That would be a bloody huge blow! Without Painter we are left with just one natural LB - Bessone. Too bad this :(
