Konstantopoulos To Sign On Loan

 Konstantopoulos To Sign On Loan

Swansea City have moved to Sign Coventry City shot-stopper and long term target Dimitrios Konstantopoulos on a one month loan deal.

Roberto Martinez was forced to dip into the emergency loan market after Dorus De Vries sustained a broken jaw and a depressed cheek bone after a rash challenge from Martin Rowlands in Tuesday's 0-0 draw against Queens Park Rangers. It has ruled the Dutchman out for a minimum of six weeks.

Konstantopoulos has been on Swansea City radar screens for some time after his fine performances at Hartlepool United before the 29 year old made the move to Coventry City. All paperwork has been submitted to the Football League and the club fully expects clearance to be granted so that the Thessaloniki born shot-stopper can go straight into the squad to face Southampton tomorrow afternoon.

Swans boss Roberto Martinez has spoken of his delight at securing a quality keeper and hopes that he can assist the former Kalamata FC keeper in his quest to secure a place in Otto Rehhagel's Greek national side.

Martinez Spoke On The Official Site:

"We are delighted to welcome Dimi on board at the Liberty Stadium. He has been part of the British game for a number of years and at 29 is in the best stage of his career. He is hungry for success and is determined to achieve his goal of playing for the Greek national senior side. Hopefully we can help him achieve that goal.In the meantime he will be a great addition to our squad.''
