Dowie:No Malice In De Vries Challenge

Dowie:No Malice In De Vries Challenge

Queens Park Rangers boss Ian Dowie believes that his player Martin Rowlands showed no malice in his challenge on Dorus De Vries.

Rowlands caught the former Ado Den Hagg man straight on after running clear through on goal but his lunge struck De Vries on the head breaking the Dutchman's jaw much to the anger and bemusement of all in the Liberty Stadium to why under fire referee Antony Bates did not send the Londoner off.

Swansea continued to press for the winner but a string of saves from hoops keeper Radek Černý secured a point for the Loftus Road side but Dowie has heavily criticised his players lack of conviction.
Dowie Told The BBC:

'We all wish the lad (Dorus de Vries) a speedy recovery. I don't think there was any malice in that.I thought it was a ball Martin Rowlands was entitled to go for.I'm pleased with the point but not the performance, we didn't do nowhere near the things we do well normally, we didn't pass the ball with any conviction. We were never going to test their keeper without passing the ball.'
