Martinez: Ipswich Will Provide A Stern Test

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez told Vital Swansea that he thinks Jim Magilton's Ipswich Town will provide a stern examination of his squads championship credentials.

Martinez will be hoping for a different result to that when the last time The Tractor Boys and Swansea met in the FA Cup fourth round in January 2007. One solitary goal a penalty from Alan Lee was enough to ensure the Suffolk side's progression into the fifth round that day. Then manager Kenny Jackett bemoaned his sides chances in his post match comments and openly stated " Our performance level was good and we caused Ipswich a few problems." His predecessor Roberto Martinez will be hoping to cause the same problems tomorrow afternoon.

Lying in 17th place, Ipswich have had a inconsistent start to the season but Swansea will be out to come away with all three points that could see the Liberty Stadium outfit rise into the play off spots.Brimming with confidence after brushing aside Wolves and Preston Martinez thinks that his players must continue to show the high standards they have set in the early part of the season.

Martinez Told Vital Swansea:

'We know its going to be one of the harder places to visit, I think Ipswich in a way are one of the footballing sides of the division, with huge experience they have strengthened the squad really well its a great test for us.We all are really looking forward coming off the back of two very good victories and two very good performances now is a matter of showing how we are adapting in the division and how strong we are mentally and carry on with the standards we have set out.'
