McLeod On The Transfer List

The official site today reports that left winger Kevin McLeod has been placed on the transfer list.

There have been rumours circulating over the last 24 hours or so suggesting he had played his last game for us and Kenny Jackett said: ''Kevin has been placed on the transfer list today.

''Unfortunately over the last few months his application has not matched his ability.

''His name has been circulated to other clubs informing them that he is available for transfer and we are prepared to listen to offers.''

He added today: 'There's no one particular thing that Kevin's being transfer listed for - he's not been in any kind of trouble and he's not facing any kind of internal discipline,'

'He's being placed on the transfer list for a build up of things over a period of time. Kevin has gone on the transfer list and the reason is that while I have seen plenty of ability, I have not seen enough application from him.

''It might be time for him to move on to pastures new. It's a shame because if his application matched his ability, he would be one hell of a player.

'He's been put on the list and we'll see what develops before the March 23 (transfer) deadline. Kevin genuinely has a hamstring problem which might take a week or two to clear up.'

McLeod hit back and said: 'I feel I've been unfairly done by. I wish I hadn't gone out, but it feels like the gaffer is using me as an example and I think that's wrong.

'I was out Saturday night because I was injured. I shouldn't go out full stop, but I've had a lot of things on my mind and a lot of frustration. I'm now suffering the consequences, but I've got to see if I can come back from this.

''I've made a mistake, I realise that and I hold my hands up,''

''I don't want to leave Swansea City - I want to stay and help get the club into the Championship - and I hope this will only be a kick up the backside for me.

''I apologise to everyone around me and I apologise to everyone at the club.

''I'm seeing the manager on Thursday and I'll apologise to him and the chairman. I will try my hardest to get fitter again and to do well for the club.''

'I'm really downhearted about what's happened,'

He's been known to enjoy a drink (or 5) in town on a regular basis which has reflected his performances on the pitch recently.

He certainly has the quality to win a starting place with us and he proved that at the beginning of the season but it's obvious his interests lie elsewhere.

Whether he's played his last game for us or not is yet to be known, but back in pre-season he told the press of the effort he'd put in then to get back into shape but that seems to have gone to waste.

Do you think he should be kept on and given another chance? Submit a comment below or post our thoughts on the forum (link below).

How can you blame Jackett for this? He's doing the right thing. McLeod isn't putting the effort in and he'd rather waste his life clubbing than enjoying a good football career, he deserves to go. He was given a chance in pre-season to get in shape and he did, but he's back on the booze.

Why don't you guys talk on the Forum and leave this for article-related comments? 8 games in and Fallon should be transfer listed? 300,000 we paid for him remember.

I'm glad someone agrees that Jackett is not to blame for this, McLeod deserves to be listed despite how good a player he is. It seems fans are blaming everything on Fallon and Jackett lately. Jackett deserves some blame though for his mysterious team selections.

With Rory Fallon not scoring & McLeod on the transfer list, all this must be unsettling for all the players, but the WORST thing that unsettles the team are the boo-boys down at the Liberty Stadium STOP BOOING & SUPPORT YOUR TEAM FOR GOD'S SAKE - if you dont like it - go elswhere on matchdays - GROW UP!!!!!

Unless there is more to this story than we know about i think Jackett has made another mistake. With the quality McLeod showed early in the season and the fact we have sold our other natural leftie in Goodfellow, i think it would have been better to try and help him through this.

When was the last time he had a decent game (apart from Huddersfield)? You say he's class but he hasn't shown this 'class' for months. He must be the most inconsistent player we have. There must be a valid reason for this and if it's constant drinking then he deserves to go but of course some fans will blame Jackett for anything lately. Fans want Fallon to go but he puts effort in, McLeod doesn't bother at all and he's on the booze yet fans want him to stay? :S [Edited by Kev]

some of these comments are ridiculous, mcleod has been rubbish sicne october. hasnt scored or played well for a long time and people are always saying hes out on town he said 'i got a lot of things on my mind' like earning x grand a week, fair enough if he has but theres no ened to go out get pissed, especially the night before a game. and he has done himself no favours by criticizing jackett, he will almost certainly be on his way imo.

Willis obviously you're not a fan, you're hardly supporting the players are you? As that's what a supporter is supposed to do. What a waste of 300,000 that would be if we transfer listed him. At least he puts the effort in unlike McLeod. [Edited by Kev]
