Williams Handed Start Against Liechtenstein

Ashley Williams has been handed a starting spot in this evenings World Cup Qualification game against Liechtenstein at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Williams has featured in every single Welsh international since hid début back in March against Luxembourg but the defenders transition to the international game has not gone without incident. Keen to atone for his mistake that cost the Dragons a vital point against Russia, Williams told the Western Mail "I watched the game again when I got back home and another half an inch and that ball would have been cleared. I thought I was a bit unfortunate because I was on my heels going backwards and had to change direction quickly to get something on it - when I did it just went straight to the striker.I`ve been looking forward to getting back with Wales for these games to try and put things right as a team by getting some more points on board."

Wales got their qualification campaign off to a rocky start with a 83rd minute strike by Wolverhampton Wanders striker Sam Vokes sparing Welsh blushes over a well organized Azerbaijan side. There is no place on the bench for Swansea City midfielder Owain Tudur Jones.

Ranked 135th in the world Liechtenstein under the helm of Swiss manager Hans-Peter Zaugg will be out to upset all the odds and come away with all the spoils from Cardiff after failing to capitalize on their chances in the 0-0 draw against Azerbaijan and will be hoping to avoid a 6-0 drumming sustained against a world class Germany side. Key to Liechtenstein chances will be the vastly experienced AS Siena striker Mario Frick and Darlington midfielder Franz Burgmeier.
