Owain Tudur-Jones is hoping for his first League start of the season in place of the suspended Ferrie Bodde on Saturday as table-toppers Wolves are the visitors to the Liberty Stadium.
The young Welshman came on as a second-half substitute on Tuesday night during the 2-0 away win at Preston and he'll be hoping for more League action on Saturday afternoon.
It was always going to be difficult for the 23 year-old to break into the first team, especially with the likes of Leon Britton, Ferrie Bodde, Darren Pratley and Jordi Gomez at the club.
Injury problems over the last 2 years also hasn't helped his progress but hopefully he can finally forget about them.
Owain will be hoping Martinez sticks with his 4-5-1 formation, boosting his chances of being picked in the first team on Saturday.
The Swansea boss changed things last week to 4-4-2 at Reading but his decision backfired as we suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat.
Tudur-Jones was pleased to finally get some game time and said:
| 'I was relieved because it was a long time coming,' 'I had to wait a good few weeks for the opportunity. I always felt ready because I had a strong pre-season. 'The gaffer felt he wanted to go with a few other things and I had a chat with him about developing my understanding of the role. 'Playing as a three in midfield and screening their centre-forwards is something I've been gradually learning in midfield. 'The gaffer knows what I can do. He didn't want me to push up. Sitting in front of the defence is a strength for me and to get the faith of the manager in that role boosts confidence.' 'I did enjoy my time on the pitch at Preston,' 'I've had to watch Leon, Ferrie and Prats run the midfield so far but they have done really well so you can't complain. They are a joy to watch. 'It is about patience and making sure you are good and ready, that goes for everyone in the squad. I am ready for Saturday.' |
