Burnley manager Owen Coyle has expressed his bitter disappointment in the Clarets failure to hold on to all three points as Swansea fight back to win a point.
Coyle's side went 1-0 ahead on 59 minutes when Wade Elliot beat left back Federico Bessone to whip in a dangerous cross into the box where Joey Gudjonsson latched onto the wingers cross to head past a stranded Dorus De Vries.
Just as Burnley thought they were taking all three points back to Turf Moor Swansea leveled deep into injury time when Mark Gower's cross field ball found an inspired Angel Rangel out on the flank. Driving into the box Rangel skipped past the challenges of two defenders to send the ball across the face of goal where Ferrie Bodde made no mistake, coolly putting the ball past a advancing Brian Jensen in the visiting goal to share the spoils.
Coyle Spoke On Burnley's Official Site:
| 'I'm disappointed by conceding a late goal that's for sure. I think Swansea away is a very tough fixture, Roberto has some fine players but I felt we handled them reasonably well. The work ethic we had was terrific and we had a nice shape to us, whilst also looking a real threat going forward and we scored a wonderful footballing goal.I think we should have seen the game out, we certainly had for 94 minutes and I found the added time strange given that two of those substitutions were at half-time.' 'Regardless of that, you are obligated to make sure you see that game out and we had a wonderful opportunity in the last third to use our experience and capability to win a game, but I think we've made the wrong decision and they have hit us on the counter attack. We have paid a heavy price for that little bit of naivety. We contributed a lot to the game and it certainly feels like a defeat given the nature of the late goal. All be it that you are going to be under pressure at various times when you come here to Swansea because it's a tremendous atmosphere which is conducive to a real footballing environment. 'I think we stood up to everything they had to throw at us. Brian only had one very good save to make so it was pleasing to just limit them to a few opportunities.' |
