Martinez Aware Of Derby Threat

Martinez Aware Of Derby Threat

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez is fully aware of the threat Derby County could pose tonight and is predicting a tough game against Paul Jewell's side.

The Rams recorded their first win of the season on Saturday while the Swans lost 2-0 away at Crystal Palace.

County beat 7th-placed Sheffield United 2-1 to rise off the bottom of the League and they'll have a healthy boost of confidence going into tonight's game.

Martinez told the Evening Post:

'It's going to be harder playing against Derby tonight than it was two weeks ago,'

'They have the quality in their side to beat anyone in the division and they are coming here on a high after their win at the weekend.

'When you get into negative runs one result affects the next result, but the same thing happens when you are coming off the back of a win.

'There has been a negative cloud on top of Derby for a long time, but I don't think we will have any bigger test this season.

'They have huge financial power after being in the Premier League last season and they have a very strong squad.

'It takes time when you bring in as many new players as they have this summer, but I believe they will be right up there challenging for promotion come May.'

There has a been a lot of build up to this particular match following the on-going saga regarding Ferrie Bodde and his potential Summer transfer to Derby.

They failed to reach our £2million price tag for the Dutchman and thankfully the midfielder is still with us.

Swansea City Team News

Roberto Martinez has no new injury worries from the weekend and so can name an unchanged side if he wishes to.

Bessone has returned from injury and adds backup to the left back place.
