Martinez Not Blaming De Vries For Palace Defeat

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez says he is not blaming goalkeeper Dorus De Vries for Saturday's 2-0 defeat away at Crystal Palace.

Instead, the Spaniard said his side lose as a team and gave backing to his current no1 Dorus De Vries.

Martinez told Wales Online:

"I don`t blame Dorus - we win and lose as a team,"

"You can analyse every goal and find the responsibility from players.

"It`s great you`ve got someone with the maturity and accept mistakes which tells you about the player - but I don`t see it that way.

"As a team we didn`t perform as we could and that`s why we didn`t get anything out of the game.

"Dorus has shown once more how responsible he is and his character as a leader that he will hold his hand up.

"He will react in the best possible way against Derby and will keep on saving a lot of points for this football club as he has been doing for a long, long time now."

De Vries blamed himself for the goals conceded at Selhurst Park on the weekend. The Dutchman watched a free-kick fly in at his far post from out wide before failing to deal with a low strike for Palace's second of the game.

Was Dorus De Vries to blame for Saturday's defeat? Should he have done better with the goals?
