Swansea City's Shaun McDonald and Joe Allen will be hoping that they can help overhaul a strong under 21 Romania side this evening as Wales take a step further to Euro 2009 qualification.
In a top of the table clash that looks set to provide a grandstand finish to group 10, Welsh destiny is firmly in their own hands but France could still overtake them into second in the group. The French only have a one point gap to Wales and Romania who have 15 points to overhaul and René Girard's side could still claim top spot in the group. Les Bleuets face a poor Bosnia and Herzegovina side that have only amassed 4 points this qualification campaign.
With so many permutations to take into consideration Bryan Flynn will be hoping that they can prevent a Romanian side with the likes of Lazio's Ştefan Radu and free scoring striker Claudiu Keserü from doing the double over his inexperienced side.Wales slumped to a 1-0 loss to the Romanians at Wrexham's Racecourse on the 20th August.
Flynn will travel to Iasi with an inferior squad than the last time they faced Emil Săndoi's side with Gareth Bale, Sam Vokes Wayne Hennessey and Ched Evans being promoted to the first team to face Russia in Moscow tomorrow evening.Should Wales win this evening Qualification is not guaranteed, The Young Dragons still face a play off game to secure safe passage to the finals. Flynn was also in attendance at Swansea City's reserve team game against Reading last week as the former Swans boss cast an eagle eye on both McDonald and Allen.
