Pintado Hopes To Reach Premiership With Swansea

New striker Gorka Pintado has high hopes with Swansea City and says he wants to reach the Premier League with his new club.

The former Grenada CF forward arrived at the Liberty Stadium with an excellent reputation from Spain, and already he is proving to be a top class buy.

He has only managed 4 substitute appearances but already he has scored 2 goals. It could have been 3 but he missed a penalty in the 2-1 Carling Cup win against Hull City.

Via an interpreter, he told the BBC Sport how different the English League is to La Liga, and says how exciting it is to score:

'I am here to show my quality, my job is to score goals and I want to help the team,'

'If I can, maybe we can finish towards the top of the table. I hope I can play in the Premier League with Swansea.'

'It is not the same in La Liga,' he said. 'It was a surprise to see everyone singing all of the time and when I score, it's exciting.

'The mentality of the squad here and the focus on the football that we play here is very different to Spain.'

'It's good to get two goals in three games, but I hope to get more continuity on the pitch,'

'I want to play as many games as I can. I am a complete striker and I feel I can do things in this league.

Martinez pulled off some more bargain buys in the Summer and this has to be up there with the best of them. He's signed a 3-year deal and joined us for just £70,000, a fraction of the price you'd pay here for a striker of his quality.

Pintado has struggled with a back injury since a friendly match at Chester and this has prevented him from starting games. Still, this hasn't stopped him from scoring and proving his quality, already fans are very much excited by 'The Bull' and we can't wait until he's fully fit.

In yesterday's match, he really should have added to his goal tally - having 3 good chances on goal.
