Orlandi Vows To Break Into Starting Eleven

Andrea Orlandi has vowed to get back in the first team after not featuring in the championship so far this season.

Restricted to two Carling Cup appearances, Orlandi has seen Thomas Butler all get nod over him but the midfielder has been ready to admit his attitude was not right over the course of the last month. Featuring in the stunning 2-1 win over Hull City on Tuesday the Spaniard could have forced himself back in to contention for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow afternoon but the former Barcelona B player understands the level of competition that he has for a place in Roberto Martinez's squad is greater this season.

Orlandi Told The SWEP:

"To be out of the Charlton game was frustrating. My attitude was maybe not the right one after that because I was really down. I played for the reserves and didn't do well and my head was down. Maybe that's why I didn't play against Nottingham Forest, but after the Plymouth game I trained very hard and was really focused. One week I was close to playing in the first team and then I wasn't in the squad. I wasn't sure why that was, so I spoke to Roberto and he made me understand the reasons and now I am doing my best to get in the team. For me Tuesday night was a special feeling because it was an opportunity to show what I can do. When you have the chance to play you have to take it because we have strong competition here. I really enjoyed it, especially the second half, because we really got at them and controlled the game.

Playing a full 120 minutes was a big achievement for me because I haven't played that much, but it will help my fitness a lot. We are very happy to be in the next round because I don't think the club has reached the third round of the League Cup for 26 years."
