Martinez: We Will Be Judged In May

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez is under no illusions that the Liberty Stadium club are not getting ahead of themselves despite a good start to the season.

After winning two of the first three games back in the second tier of British football there is a new confidence in a young Swansea side that has in the last week dumped Premiership side Hull City out of the Carling Cup. All summer long pundits and bookmakers have been tipping Martinez's side to struggle but should the resolve and fierce determination seen in the opening salvo's of the season the Swans could upset all the odds.

However the Spaniard has remained coy over the clubs chances of securing a second successive promotion after Irish defender Marcos Painter declared his and the clubs play-off ambitions. It is the clubs steady growth that has pleased the former Chester City player.

Martinez told The BBC:

"We won't kid ourselves, we'll be judged in May. But the statistic is for the fans to enjoy and they deserve it. The club's been through dire times and a few years ago nobody would have predicted we'd be where we are now. We're slowly seeing the club growing to where we want to be, and that's very pleasing."

Sheffield Wednesday are the next opponents to Swansea City on Saturday at the Liberty Stadium.
