Brown Praises Swansea After Cup Win

Brown Praises Swansea After Cup Win

Hull City boss Phil Brown praised Swansea City after dumping the Premiership new-boys out of the Carling Cup in the second round.

Gorka Pintado came off from the bench to cancel out Windass' first half opener before Jordi Gomez won us the match from the penalty spot in extra time.

Martinez's side recovered after a poor opening 45 minutes to produce an impressive display for the 8,500 home fans.

Phil Brown's side were much the better team early on and they were dangerous on the attack. It didn't take them long to break the deadlock as Windass slotted the ball home from inside the box after a neat dummy from Folan.

From that point on, it looked as if they'd gone and score 2 or 3 but we managed to keep the score at 1-0 at half time.

The Swans transformed in the second half, dominated most of the possession, linked up a lot better and Pintado added inspiration up front.

Phil Brown was impressed with our performance and he said:

"The better team won, there's no doubt about that.

Swansea played some fantastic football.

We looked the more organised team in the first-half, but that went out of the window after the break.

It enabled Swansea to get hold of the ball and the game and they deserved their win in the end."

After winning promotion from the Championship last year, Brown knows what it takes to succeed in this league, and he also thinks we could be contenders for promotion if we keep performing like we did last night.

Brown added:

"They will certainly equip themselves in the Championship."

"If they play with that kind of confidence week in week out, they will be a threat for going up."

Despite his attitude on the sidelines last night, waving his arms whenever we touched their players, it was excellent compliment to give us and well deserved.

The 8,500 home fans witnessed an excellent performance, definitely one of the best of the season so far, and that was from our second side!
