Scotland: The Best Is Yet To Come

Scotland: The Best Is Yet To Come

After opening his goal scoring account over the weekend against a lacklustre Plymouth Argyle, Jason Scotland has revelled his best is still yet to come.

In customary swagger, the 29 year old's strike just before half time was enough to see Swansea City pick up the first away win of the season at Home Park. It has been a tumultuous summer for the striker who went under the knife in Germany to rectify a muscle strain. However Scotland has remained in upbeat mood and has admitted that he is two weeks from being fully fit despite the rigorous regime put on him by the coaching staff at the club.

Jokingly Scotland has also revelled that his team mates have urged the Trinidad and Tobago international to go and get the other 28 goals that would see him match his tally from last season

Scotland Told The WM:

"I'm probably still two games or two weeks from getting there. I'm starting to feel good now and I'm recovering fast. There's definitely more to come from me in terms of my game and my goals. I'm still getting to my peak, but I will get there because this is a division I really want to prove myself in.

I already feel a lot stronger, the programme set for me was to help me lose a little bit of weight, but also to get me quicker and stronger and that's important because I have to be able to hold on to the ball and bring other people into the game. It's a big role for the team and, if the ball comes to me, I have the responsibility to bring quality players into the game.

You have to work hard to do that and it's not easy because there are good defenders in this league, tougher players you come up against. People say it's all good I have scored goals in League One, but this is the big league where I have to show it. I have already promised myself I will prove people wrong and it's a good start. But hopefully we can all carry on and it's good to get that first goal - but the lads have already said there's 28 to go for me!"

Swansea City will now turn their attentions to facing Premier League side Hull City in the second round of the Carling Cup tomorrow evening.

He needs to drop some weight. I don't believe it was my screen which made him look a bit fat.
25/08/2008 13:45:00
he's not even fit yet and he'll get better and sharper. i think he'll get 15-20 goals this season, he's capable of it.
25/08/2008 13:45:00
he definitely needs to lose weight, get a bit leaner and hopefully (please!) quicker and sharper. his foot work is terrible
25/08/2008 14:11:00
he's pure muscle. His strength is a key part of his game. And compared to last year his pace and movement is wonderful. Although he does need to work on his touch.
25/08/2008 16:05:00
He has lost weight and tbh i think hes sharper than last year. I could see it when he came on against charlton. GT Thomas his foot work obviously isnt terrible, he needs to work on his movement and work rate.
25/08/2008 16:10:00
i think his strength will terrify a lot of defenders this season i personally dont think he is over weight he is just a big lad who will score goals KEEP THE FAITH

with the ball at his feet he's not very good at all, its easy work for the defenders to dispossess him.
