Martinez Has Ambitions To Sign A £3m Player

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez told the Evening Post that one day the club will sign their own £3million player.

The Jacks host Nottingham Forest tomorrow, a side who spent £2.65 million on former Cardiff City striker Robert Earnshaw. Calderwood spent more than £4million on new signings in the Summer, and that's the reason why Martinez thinks they are favourites to win tomorrow.

He said:

'Slowly we will grow, every step will be solid and one day I'm sure Swansea City will spend £3million on one player.

'The more success you have, the more your assets increase and, if you sell a player for £2million, you can spend that on another player.

'You need to be successful in this league to reach that level. I believe that when we are a top-six club in this division, we will be spending that kind of cash.'

'Forest should be favourites when they play us because with that sort of money you can take your squad onto a different level.

'It's a great thing for a club if you have that sort of money and you're able to spend it,'

'But I am not jealous and I wouldn't swap my squad for theirs.

'Blaming a lack of money is the easy way out. When you haven't got money you need to find other ways to be competitive, and it's a great challenge for us to compete with bigger names in the game.'
