Scotland Hoping To Prove His Fitness Tonight

Swansea City striker Jason Scotland says he is hoping to prove his fitness tonight in order to play in Saturday's home game against Nottingham Forest.

Our top scorer last season could only make the bench for the season's opening game last Saturday, after having an operation in the Summer.

The Trinidad and Tobago forward is hoping to feature in most of tonight's game in readiness for our first home league game on the weekend, Scotland told the Evening Post:

T'I'm hoping to come through 60, 70, 80 or maybe even 90 minutes,'

'If I can do that and I can perform to a high level then, hopefully, I will be knocking on the door for the game on Saturday.

'That is my target, but obviously we will have to see how tonight goes first.'

Martinez is a manager who likes to rotate his squad when there are mid-week games so it's very doubtful that Scotland would play 70-80 minutes tonight and start on Saturday.

He hasn't had the opportunity like the rest of the team to improve his fitness over pre-season so whether or not he is ready to start a League game remains questionable.

Should Scotland feature tonight or should he be kept for Saturday's game?

He played nearly 80 minutes so that's very good news!
