Martinez: It Wasn't A Red Card

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez disagreed with the referee's decision today to send off Garry Monk.

The club captain had a mad 2 minutes or so mid-way through the second half after getting booked twice before being given his marching orders.

The first was a foul on Varney, denying him a good goalscoring opportunity and the second was for another foul, this time on Charlton sub Holland.

Martinez told the official site his views on the red card:

'I don't think it was a red card,''

'Garry took the ball before the man, but these things happen over the course of a season.

'Hopefully, the next decision will go our way instead.''

Monk also thought the decision was harsh, he said:

'Probably a challenge like that would get me sent-off one in 20 times. But I'll never pull out of a 50-50 tackle, that's not in my nature.''

Do you agree with Monk and Martinez? Was it a sending off?

slightly harsh maybe but it was all too quick within 2 minutes he was off. will only miss 1 game though, tuesdays against brentford?

He should have been more careful. I'm not sure whether the ban is for all competitions or just league.

thats what most players do, take it easy after getting booked. when defenders get booked the opposition can benefit from that, especially in and around the box. monk should have known better.
