Opposition Focus: Plymouth Argyle

As Roberto Martinez prepares for a tough season ahead in the Coca Cola Championship we will at Vital Swansea turn our attentions to our new opposition. Vital Plymouth Argyle editor Paul Williams now gives us the low-down on his clubs chances next term.

1) Name?

Paul Williams

2) How Long have you been supporting your club?

I have been supporting Argyle for about 30 years.

3) How Do you rate your chances this season?

I think Argyle are in for a difficult season. Most of our better players were sold last season and we've just lost Peter Halmosi so a mid-table finish in the Championship would be an excellent achievement.

4) What do you think of Swansea City can they cause an upset?

Swansea seem to be a club on the up, with a new stadium and securing promotion last season. I think Swansea could be a dark horse in the Championship and pinch a play off place.

5) Who do you think is your clubs and Swansea's biggest threat?

The biggest threat for any team is wealthier clubs spending their money. Argyle is a club run on a tight budget which means we cannot compete against clubs who spend millions on players. However, most of these clubs are spending money they do not have and one day soon will face financial trouble and enter administration. Which means that Argyle could then take advantage.

6) What places can you recommend visiting fans go to i.e. pubs, hotels and places to visit?

For a away fan friendly pub there is the Britannia Inn (The Brit) near the Home Park stadium. It's a Wetherspoons pub so it's cheap beer and football shirts are allowed to be worn.and is well worth a visit pre or post match.

Thank you Paul :)

i hope he's right about our chances, i think plymouth will struggle, watched them last season and they were quite poor.

I'd love it if he was right about us pinching a play off place! I agree with you GThomas, I think Plymouth will struggle but good luck for the season!

There will probably be less than 20 points seperating the play off teams and those relegated so its all about having a good start.
