Swansea City In Talks To Sign Trialist

Swansea City are in transfer talks with trialist Michael van der Heijden.

The Dutchman arrived at the club last month for a trial following his release from Dutch Third Division side FC Lisse.

BBC are reporting he is close to signing but is likely to go straight out on loan to Hereford United if he does.

Roberto Martinez seemed pleased with his attitude while he was here and he told BBC Wales:

"Michael has come in, he's shown a great attitude and he needs to keep working hard."

"I'm not sure about this Soutar. It doesn't seem like much thought has gone into finding a new GK. Maybe we should look at Michael Danek. Then again, it is going to be hard to find a quality goalkeeper as we already have Dorus and I doubt many keepers will want to come here to warm the bench."

One for the future? He's 26...

If out on loan, for how long?

If out on loan to Hereford, then for how long?

6 months? A season long loan may be too long for a 26 year old.

seems pointless to me if he's going out on loan, martinez says he only signs players who can improve the squad, if he can improve the squad why loan him out. one for the future? he's nearly at his peak, he's 26

He scored 1 or 2 and set up a few when he was on trial so we know he works well with the boys, the question is will he work well at the level we will be playing in this year.

He played against Neath and Carmarthen (I think), the Championship is going to be a lot tougher.

Very confusing information this one. Let's wait until the official confirmation. I say though sign this guy and send youngsters on loan to L2 or BSPL.
