Martinez Wants Trial Keeper Soutar Back

Roberto Martinez has expressed his wish to get trial keeper Derek Soutar back at the club.

Returning to Scotland the former Alloa Atheletic shot-stopper could be the answer to the shortage of cover for Swansea City's no. 1 Dorus De Vries. Soutar has featured in one pre season game so far against Chester City whilst the Dundee born keeper was on the bench for the game against West Bromwich Albion. Youth team keeper David Cornell who has been tipped for the future is out for up to four months with a wrist injury which leaves Martinez dangerously short of cover for the Dutchman. Whilst the emergency loan system is in place Martinez will want to shore up his options.

Soutar was released by SPL side Aberdeen after the Dons told the Scot he was surplus to requirements. The 6ft keeper has had an unsuccessful trial with league one club Hartlepool United already this summer but with the Spaniard short of options, the stopper could secure a contract with the Swans. However Martinez is in no rush to secure much needed back up as he is quite content to go to Charlton on Saturday with only one fit keeper.

Martinez Told The SWEP:

"We're trying to see if Derek can get back down. But there's no panic over the goalkeeper and I won't mind if we go to Charlton with only Dorus de Vries."

There are tickets still available for the game this evening against ADO Den Haag they are priced at £12 for adults, £7.00 for concessions and £4 for U-16's. Note only the West and East stands are open.

I hope it all gets sorted soon because we can't afford to go too long without a keeper.
