Swansea City Pre-Season Round-up - May

Swansea City rounded off their superb season with a 1-0 win away at Brighton.

Febian Brandy got the all-important goal mid-way through the second half to total their points tally for the season to 92 points, ten clear of second placed Nottingham Forest.

Following our Championship winning season, the fans had the opportunity to bask in the celebrations as the squad paraded through the town centre on an open top bus.

New Deals

Shortly after the end to a fabulous season, new contracts were sorted out with Alan Tate, Shaun MacDonald and Tom Butler while former Chelsea centre back Steven Watt was unsurprisingly released.

Andy Robinson - Contract Talks Stall

There were also uncertainties over Andy Robinson future at the club after contract talks with the Swans stalled. Eventually money beat ambition as his priority and he remained in League One to sign for Leeds United.

Bauza Signs Up

Guillem Bauza was the next player to put to paper while there were discussions over making Ashley Williams' stay a permenant one.

Bodde Saga Begins

The Ferrie Bodde saga kicked off mid-way through the month as relegated Derby County bidded £500,000 for the Dutchman, a long way short of the club's £2m valuation.

New Signings

Martinez made his first summer signing on 22nd May and breaks our transfer fee record paid with the £400,000 capture of Stockport County and Wales international defender Ashley Williams.

This week we'll continue our pre-season round-up, with June and July reviews.
