MacDonald Called Up For Wales u-21 Squad

Swansea City midfielder Shaun MacDonald will join the likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Wayne Hennessey and Joe Ledley after being called up to the Wales under-21 squad.

Brian Flynn's young side take on Romania on August 20th as they set their sights on qualification to the Euro 2009 under-21 finals.

MacDonald's Swansea team-mate Joe Allen unfortunately misses out however because of suspension.

John Toshack has also boosted our chances of qualification by loaning out some of his senior players to the under-21s squad.

MacDonald had a quiet season last year with regards to club football but an impressive pre-season in Spain could see him more involved this year perhaps.

Both Martinez and Toshack have high hopes of both Shaun and Joe Allen and their involvement with Wales has certainly helped their progression over the last few years.

he seems to be progressing well and had a good spanish tour by reports, he's doing well for wales and hopefully he can improve and feature for the swans more this year, lets give him run outs in cup games.

He has bags of potential and from what I've heard he's a really nice guy. I'd like to see him feature for the swans a bit more this season if he plays well.

I hope both Joe and Shaun feature more this season, they are playing well for Wales and hopefully will be able to break into the first team squad soon and be considered for bench duties. Cup games should give them their game time and then concentrate on playing for Wales and getting more practice with them and the reserves.
