'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Only Pre-Season Negative Is Pintado's Injury'

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez said the only negative to come out of this year's pre-season period is Gorka Pintado's injury he suffered in the 3-2 win at Chester.

Pintado shouldn't be out for long and is only a doubt for next Saturday's season opener at Charlton.

Apart from that, the Swansea manager seems to be very pleased with how the squad has progressed over the last 2 months and it was encouraging to see us hold Premiership new-boys West Brom to a 0-0 draw.

Guillem Bauza has gone from strength to strength, netting 10 goals while the likes of Shaun MacDonald and Matty Collins have also impressed after an action-less season last year in League One.

Roberto Martinez told the Official Site:

'The little niggle that Gorka Pintado had against Chester is the only negative point that could come out of this pre-season.'

'Too many people put on the emphasis on the eleven that are going to play at Charlton.'

'As you can see we have 24, 25 players and it's important that they are in the best possible condition to play their role in the campaign.'

'It's 10 very demanding months and we need everybody ready to play their role.'

'Overall we've got the squad ready to start the season, but it's not for me to select the team, football makes that decision. But the players have all worked really hard.'

we've done well not to lose many players, scotland played 10 mins yesterday which is good and gorka shouldn't miss more than 1 game. i hope he's back so we can see what he's made of.

Shame to have lost him, Bussy and him were doing well pre season, hope they can tranfer that to the league now.

If we play 4-5-1 against Charlton, then we will have Bauza leading the attack.

Agree with Matty Collins. Mustv been tough for him last year.

i think bauza needs a strike partner, he could struggle, may be worth teaming him up with brandy
