Player Ratings vs West Bromwich Albion

Rhys Jones provides us with player ratings and comments for today's 0-0 draw at home to West Bromwich Albion.

De Vries - Didn't have a lot to do, made some saves, and heared him a lot. Not a bad performance and will start as first choice keeper against Charlton.

Collins - played about 80 mins and was very good. He was right back and made some good tackles and some decent passes, gave the ball away to begin with once or twice but over all did himself no harm of starting against Charlton.

Monk - another good performance from our captain, made some great tackles and controlled the back 4, making sure our off side trap worked every time, will definitely start against Charlton.

Williams - played the full 90 mins and didn't really put a foot wrong, had a good header from a corner which almost went in, will most likely start against Charlton.

Painter - A Very good performance from Painter today, played the full 90 minutes and also didn't put a foot wrong, made some good tackles got forward and stopped their right winger from ever being a real threat. should start against Charlton.

Gower - not the best performance on a right wing I've seen. Hate to compare him with Anderson but he cant really match him. Had some decent touches but nothing special. May not start against Charlton on this performance.

O'Leary - I thought it was a joke. His own testimonial and only played 14 minutes! oh well. Got a good round of applause and had a guard of honour from all players. Won't play much this season but always there if needed.

Bodde- looked like Bodde to me. In the first few minutes I saw him crop their number 4. Nobody noticed it. Made some good tackles, some decent passes and another cool display by the bod. Should start against Charlton.

Gomez - I wasn't too impressed by him. Didn't create a huge amount, just passes it around a bit, he played the attacking midfield role and did his job, but nothing special. Not sure about him starting on this performance.

Butler - Played on the left wing and was fantastic. Didn't put a foot wrong. Looked dangerous every time he had the ball. Almost scored or set up a goal. He should start against Charlton. Linked up well with Painter.

Pratley - Came on for O'Leary and was superb. My man of the match. Was so confident on the ball. Moving it around and flicking it all over the place. Made some intelligent runs and linked up well with Bodde. Should start against Charlton.

Bauza - Decent game by him. Chased a lot and always got into some good positions. Missed the best chance of the game with a 1 on 1 with Carson. Good control but didn't have the finish. Possibly start against Charlton.

Subs:

Orlandi - Played RW, quiet the whole time he was on, probably won't start.

Macdonald - played LF didn't do much probably wont start.

Tate - played RB made a few good headers, I think Collins is ahead of him at the moment.

Serran - played CB and seemed to lift them team when coming on for Monk, looked pacey, not a bad performance, probably won't start against Charlton.

Scotland - Quiet, huge aplause.

Thanks to Rhys Jones for his views.

not a bad perfromance by us today. I was pretty worried by the unexplained absense of Leon Britton, was no-where to be seen today.

He had flu along with O'leary.
KevinE
that would explain why o'leary only played 11 minutes then would it?
Scarface4051
yes that was why. good to hear butler doing well, its awesome how much he's improved over the last 12 months or so.

Butler played brilliantly and was a constant threat. Thanks rhys for doing the ratings. A good read although I was there. I like to see how other people's ratings compare to mine. Your ratings were pretty much the same as I'd have rated them.
