Martinez Confident Bauza Will Escape Ban

Roberto Martinez is confident that Guillem Bauza will not face a ban after being sent off in the 3-3 draw against FC Barcelona Atlétic.

Bauza was sent off for the first time in a Swansea shirt after being given his marching orders when he received his second yellow card following a challenge on former Leganés defender Jose Solano. Expressing his disappointment the former Espayol B player has bemoaned the difference of footballing cultures for his dismissal.

Quick to ensure the in form Spaniard will be available for the opening game of the season against Charlton Athletic Martinez consulted the officials at the Mini Estadi soon after the final whistle and was assured that he can take part in the first game of Swansea City's championship campaign.

Martinez Told The WM:

"We have spoken to the referee and we are certain Bussy will be available for Charlton. To be fair to Bussy, it was a completely different way to referee a game. We have to accept the way some of the Barcelona players were behaving is part of the way the game is played in Spain at times. They do not see it as cheating because it is accepted that everyone can make it hard for referees like that. Bussy got sent off for four challenges which the ref thought were above the line, but in the British game they would have had a clap rather than a yellow card."

Swansea City will face Chester City tomorrow evening at the Deva Stadium.

I wasn't aware that sendings off in friendlies could carry through to a domestic ban....let's hope Bussy doesn't get one, he's not a rough player at all
