Bauza Disappointed With Barcelona Dismissal

Guillem Bauza yesterday turned from hero to villain within 45 minutes in the 3-3 draw against FC Barcelona Atlétic.

Scoring a brace of goals to bring Swansea back into the game yesterday Bauza found himself seeing red for the first time in his career with the club. The striker put the visitors ahead early on in the second half after dispatching a shot between through the outstretched legs of Barcelona keeper Mino. Moments later the former Espanyol man made it 3-2 after Mark Gower's shot just four yards from the goal line was blocked but the Bauza was at the right place at the right time to bring Swansea within a goal of parity.

His night turned sour deep into the second half after being given his marching orders when he received his second yellow card following a challenge on former Leganés defender José Solano. Despite this Bauza has remained positive about the game and believes it has shown that the squad have the diversity to compete in the championship. Playing to their tactical advantage Luis Enrique's young side threatened to cause an upset but the segunda B group 3 side's tactical knowledge is common place according to Bauza.

Scoring 10 goals this pre season alone the striker has certainly carried over his good form from last season into the new campaign. After a slow start the Spaniard finally found his feet and even scored the vital brace to secure the clubs promotion to the championship against Gillingham. On the last day of the season the striker scored his first league hat trick against Leyton Orient and going from strength to strength Bussy as he is affectionately known is hoping that he can add to his ever increasing goal tally.

Bauza Spoke On The Offical Site

"It was an interesting night, I think we showed many different variations to our game tonight that will stand us in good stead for the Championship. In the second-half we showed a winning, fighting, spirit. We showed that when we display a high pressure game against a very good technical and tactical team, we can be a match for them. I think everyone who saw us last season knows we are a good footballing side but coming over to Spain has given everyone a better insight into the tactical side of the game. It's a total contrast to what everyone is used to in Britain. What you've got to remember is that young Barca side tonight has played exactly the same way since the age of 11. They think about the tactical side of the game in their sleep. I was disappointed to leave the team with 10 men. But that's the way it is out here - it's a different footballing culture.

I've worked hard over the pre-season to get ready for the British game, not the Spanish one. I wouldn't have even been booked in the Championship, so I won't stop doing what's needed when the new season kicks off. I'm just pleased I've added another two goals to my tally. I've scored 10 in pre-season now, but that's why I'm here. Hopefully I can keep it going right up until the end of the season."

Swansea City will return home to South Wales today.
