Martinez Praises Squad After Barcelona Comeback

Roberto Martinez has praised his players for battling back from a 3-0 deficit at half time to secure a 3-3 draw against FC Barcelona Atlétic yesterday evening.

Swansea went three goals down after Spanish under-17 international Ruben Rochina grabbed a brace whilst Ruben Rayos atoned for his early miss to round of the scoring in the first half to pill more misery on the vistiors. It would be the Liberty Stadium outfit who would start the second half refreshed. Guillem Bauza equalised after burying the ball into the net through the legs of Mino in the Barceloa goal. Moments later Bauza grabbed his second of the game but the former Mallorca man saw red after picking up his second yellow card after he was adjudged to have unfairly fouled Jose Solano.

Completing the comeback was Fabien Brandy who put Swansea back on terms with three minutes to go. Getting off to a slow start Martinez believes that watching the Barcelona first team train before the kick off effected the squads mental focus but has declared that the fight back against good opposition is a bonus.

Martinez Told The SWEP:

"In a way watching the Barcelona first team train affected us in the first half because we lost our focus. On the other hand seeing those players train is very, very positive. It's great for the boys to be pitch side watching the big names working on the same things we've been working on. After a disappointing first half, the boys showed mental strength when everything was against them. They found strength to fight back from 3-0 down against a side whose biggest strength is to keep the ball, and that's a huge plus."

Swansea City will return home to South Wales today.
