Martinez: We Need A Winning Mentality

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez has declared that the players must have a winning mentality no mater who they face.

Speaking after the comprehensive 4-0 loss to Espanyol last night the Spaniard was in philosophical mood despite the defeat. Over the course of the last four pre season friendlies Swansea City brushed aside the opposition but the class of the La Liga outfit shone through with goals from Albert Riera. Raul Tamudo and Jonathan downing the Swans.

Harsh lessons have been learned against high quality opposition with Martinez bemoaning the nature of the goals conceded even going to far as branding them "soft". Despite this the former CF Balaguer player believes that the game will prove a great exercise as the opening match of the season at Charlton Athletic grows ever closer.

Martinez Told The WM:

"The goals we conceded were very soft and that was disappointing but it was the perfect exercise for us and in that respect it was very pleasing. The two lessons learned were that we need to have a winning mentality at all times, no matter who we play against, and the other is that we are in a better league with better players and the reality is we will get punished when we make mistakes. In that respect, playing against a side of this quality was a fantastic exercise ahead of that. This game is part of the hard work and the training ready for that first league game."

Charlton Athletic have released a further 225 tickets to Swansea supporters but the seats offer restrictive views. Tickets cost £28 for Adults , £18 for 18-21 year olds and over 60's with children under 18 years tickets costing £8
