RCD Espanyol Vs Swansea City Preview

Swansea City will face their toughest pre season test to date tomorrow evening when the squad take on La Liga outfit RCD Espanyol.

So far this pre season campaign the Swans have been in sensational goal scoring form with a 6-0 win over Swedish side Östersunds FK, a 5-0 win over Neath Athletic and wins over Port Talbot Town and Carmarthen Town last week. It is that good form that has piled up expectation on the squad but the pre season fixtures in Spain should provide a sterner examination of the credentials of the squad.

From the minute Roberto Martinez and his team touched down on Spanish soil the earth moved with an earthquake in the area measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale. Whilst no one was hurt Martinez will be hoping his batch of new recruits and members of last seasons league one title winning side can send shock waves throughout Catalonia and beat Tintín Márquez's side.

Four Swansea players will certainly be out to impress with Guillem Bauza facing his former employers just under a year after signing for The Liberty Stadium club. Bauza will not be alone with Federico Bessone,Albert Serran and Jordi Gomez all making swift returns to the province. Angel Rangel , Jason Scotland and Dennis Lawrence are all out of the game with injuries.

The Blanquiazules will prove tough opposition should Márquez field a strong starting eleven the potent Luis García Fernández will cause problems for the Swansea defence. Whilst Cameron shot stopper Carlos Kameni will be hard to breach. Espanyol finished 12th in La Liga last term under manager Ernesto Valverde who left the club in a multi million euro deal for Greek Super League side Olympiacos F.C.
