Monk Wants To Banish Underdog Tag

Underestimate Swansea at your peril was the message from club captain Garry Monk eager to banish the underdog tag placed on the league one champions.

For the first time in 24 years the Liberty Stadium club will grace the 2nd tier of the British game but it is a thought that has inspired the squad. Monk who has had experience at this level with Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday could provide the much needed composure at the heart of the Swansea defence next term.

Having complete faith in the skill and the ability of this seasons squad that includes the highly rated Jordi Gomez , Albert Serran and Gorka Pintado Swansea certainly will not be there to make up the numbers and Monk believes that this squad have the ability to make a big impression.

Monk Told The BBC:

'I think we'll be branded the underdogs for most of the games. But that's the way we like it as we will use it to our advantage. I can guarantee you that no team will have an easy ride against us.It will be enough motivation in itself for us to go out there and prove people wrong,. I can also guarantee you that we'll have enough skill and ability in the side to be right up there.''

Charlton Athletic have released a further 225 tickets to Swansea supporters but the seats offer restrictive views. Tickets cost t 28 for Adults , 18 for 18-21 year olds and over 60's with children under 18 years tickets costing 8
