Despite The Weather, Gomez Hints At Extended Stay

Despite the lack of Summery weather here in South Wales, Spanish loanee Gomez has mentioned the possibility of an extended stay at the Liberty Stadium.

Roberto Martinez paid Espanyol a £200,000 fee for a 1-season loan which speaks volumes for his potential and quality that he'll add to the squad.

Despite the weather, Gomez seems excited to be here and with the help of translator and brother-in-law Andrea Orlandi, he told the Western Mail:

"I've settled really well in Swansea so far, my new team-mates are a great group and training is always different and enjoyable.

The only thing has been the weather. But Andrea had already told me to expect a bit of a shock and it's something I will just get used to.

Other than that I'm just trying to get really fit because I want to play as much as possible this season. I will just work hard every day to try and get in the team.

At the moment I am just thinking about this season. But, you never know, if I do well, then maybe I can stay for longer.

I haven't seen many Championship games. But, once I knew I was coming to Swansea, I did a lot of research on the internet.

I immediately saw how good the teams and stadiums were in the league. I'm really looking forward to playing at some of those grounds.

I know I have adapt my style but I will do all I can to bring success for Swansea. Andrea has told me it will be difficult, but I am confident I will be ready."

With the likes of Andrea Orlandi, Jordi Gomez, Leon Britton, Tom Butler, Ferrie Bodde, Darren Pratley and Mark Gower at the club there'll be plenty of healthy competition for places in midfield.
