De Vries : Bodde Will Light Up The Championship

Swansea shot stopper Dorus De Vries has put his full backing behind Ferrie Bodde after the midfielder signed a new long term deal with the club.

Admitting Bodde has had trouble dealing with the constant speculation and mounting criticism over his own conduct the former Dunfermline Athletic keeper believes the situation got the better of his team mate. Fully supporting the midfield maestro De Vries has praised Bodde for his qualities on the pitch and believes he can light up the championship and spur on the club to greater things.

The keeper has also sent a rallying call to Swansea fans to back the under fire Bodde. This comes after the midfielder received a warm welcome from fans last night in the 5-0 win over Neath Athletic.

De Vries Told The WM:

'This type of thing had never happened to him before, it was difficult for him and perhaps he didn`t know how to deal with things in the best way.He had not had this kind of interest in him before, but it is always going to happen with players of his ability who perform as well as he did last season.I can understand Ferrie`s ambitions when some big clubs were being talked about because Derby do have a higher stature than us at the moment. He knew that so he was always going to think about it and look at his options.Every player has personal ambitions and some time a transfer happens, sometimes it`s not the right thing. With so much going on it was hard for him, but now he has made his decision and he is determined to do well for Swansea City and the fans should back him.Ferrie is a special player with great abilities on and off the ball so it is great news for us.He did great things for us last year and he can do even getter things at a higher level because his great talent will show up even further"

Swansea City will be in action again this evening as they face Carmarthen Town and Port Talbot Town at Richmond Park. Tickets Cost £8 for Adults and £4 for concessions. The 45 minute games will start at 7.00pm.
