'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bodde Receives Warm Welcome Despite Saga

Just weeks after coming under fire for his derogatory remarks aimed at club officials, Ferrie Bodde received a heroes welcome at the Gnoll last night

Ending months of speculation over his future the former Ado Den Hagg midfielder has committed to the club by signing a new long term deal, despite declaring his wish to join Derby County over the course of the summer. In that time he has faced the wrath of the Swansea City faithful for his comments that called into question the clubs conduct over their handling of the potential transfer to Pride Park.

It all paled into insignificance last night as Roberto Martinez's side ran out 5-0 winners at the first football game at the Gnoll against Neath Athletic. Bodde even stepped up to score from the penalty spot to send the Swans into a 3-0 lead over the Eagles. The Dutchman's good reception was in no doubt according to Martinez who believes that the Delft born player has all the hallmarks of a fans favourite. Surprised by the amount of fans that turned out last night Martinez thinks there is also a genuine sense of excitement around the club for next seasons championship campagin.

Martinez Spoke On The Official Site:

'I never had any doubt he'd have a great reception.I know the Swansea fans inside out and I know they love passionate players.Ferrie is a passionate player and by committing himself to Swansea City on a long-term contract, his actions speak louder than any words. That was a big crowd; something special. I think all the players were surprised at the number of fans who turned out.But I think that's part of the excitement of the forthcoming Championship campaign.
Martinez On the 5-0 win
All the players played their part. There were a lot of new faces out there and they all bring something different to the squad. At this stage of the season it's all about making sure they gel together and work on partnerships."

Swansea City will be in action again this evening as they face Carmarthen Town and Port Talbot Town at Richmond Park. Tickets Cost £G for Adults and £4 for concessions. The 45 minute games will start at 7.00pm.

Its good to hear. For so long some swans fans have been quite fickle, lets hope they'v turned the corner as much as the club has.
