Keeper Knight Released From Swansea

Swansea City have confirmed that David Knight has been released from the club after failing to secure a first team place.

Knight only made one appearance for the club last season in the 2-1 win over Billericay Town in the 1st round of the FA cup. Signing on last summer on a free transfer Swansea took up the last year of his contract with Premiership outfit Middlesbrough but the shot stopper could not usurp Dorus De Vries from his steadfast position as the club's no. 1 keeper.

Making most of his appearances for the club in the reserves, the former Oldham keeper failed to impress. With the season looming large the hunt is on for a new keeper to challenge De Vries. Out of contract Owain Fon Williams, Espanyol shot stopper Inaki Lafuente and Swindon Town's Slovakian no. 1 Peter Brezovan have been linked with a move to The Liberty Stadium. Swans manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that he does have a few options regarding Knight's replacement but he only wants a player that can compete for his starting place.

Martinez Told The SWEP:

"We could get someone young, we could get someone old. Age doesn't matter, what matters is that the player is able to compete. We have a few options as far as goalkeeper goes and we need to make sure we bring in the right one."

Season Tickets are available for collection from the ticket office and new applications are being taken.

Cant really comment cos I never saw him play. Devries had a few dodgy moments last season and was never replaced so i think that says it all.
