Derby Not Out Of Bodde Hunt

Derby County manager Paul Jewell has refused to give up on signing Ferrie Bodde despite claims from Rams chairman Adam Pearson that they have withdrawn from negotiations.

In the ongoing saga over the Dutchman's future, Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has turned down three bids from the Pride Park outfit. Bids of 500,000, 750,000 and a deal worth up to 2 million that would match the evaluation placed on the player by the Liberty Stadium club have all been put on the table. Speaking today Jewell has indicated he would still like to open talks with the player who is in Holland on family related business.

Late last week Swansea manager Roberto Martinez did not impose a fine on Bodde after negative remarks were made by the midfielder about the conduct of the club over the state of negotiations. Bodde sensationally asked the club "to be fair" and allow him to talk to Derby over a possible move to the relegated Premier League outfit. The lack of movement in the negotiations has led Jewell to express his disappointment at the state of affairs and believes a deal could be done.

Jewell told the BBC:

"We would like to speak to him but until we get permission from Swansea, we won't be able to do that. The vibes I get every time I pick up the paper is that the player wants to come here. If the clubs can't agree a fee or if Swansea have different ideas to the valuation I put on him, then we can't do a deal. Ferrie is a player we admire and we've tried and tried and tried, and there's only so much a club can do. It is disappointing because negotiations have been going on for a long time. We felt a deal could be done and the player has said he wants to come to Derby County."

Swansea City today started their first full day of training in Ostersund in the next phase preperations for next season.
