Scotland Germany Bound For Operation

Swansea striker Jason Scotland will undergo surgery in Germany to rectify a muscle problem but will be fit for the start of the season..

Scotland who was the league one golden boot winner last term sustained the injury around the festive period. Carrying on playing with the injury in the later part of the season the Trinidad and Tobagan international will be sidelined for two weeks whilst he recovers from the operation just in time to take some part in pre season preparations in Spain.

Swans manager Roberto Martinez has also spoken about the benefits of going to Sweden for the next phase of his pre season preparations. Östersund located in the middle of the country provides a place were the players can train and prepare with no distractions according to the Spaniard and the players will go under rigorous training exercises to raise their fitness.

Martinez Told The SWEP:

'Jason will have the operation on July 11 in Germany. For the surgery he needs that is the place to go, so we are sending him there. Like us, other clubs are using the facility out there because it is top class. Jason's operation needs to be spot-on and that's why we're sending him to the best.'
Martinez On The Swedish Training Camp
"There are no distractions in the area we're going to. There's sunlight 24 hours a day so it doesn't matter what time it is, there's always the chance to work. We will be doing three to four sessions every 24 hours. It's a chance for us to focus on looking after the body and to set the standards for the rest of the campaign.'
