'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pintado Setting His Sights High

Like raging bull Swansea City new boy Gorka Pintado is raring to go in his first season in British football.

Pintado declared his £100,000 move to South Wales as the deal of his life. Leaving Grenada CF for Swansea was a huge decision for the striker who hails from San Sebastián. Whilst at the Segunda B club he earned high praise from fans and players alike. So much so he earned a reputation for his goal scoring exploits that led fans to call him "El Toro" translated as the bull.

However the Spaniard is not here to make up the numbers and is out to score goals for his new club and has set himself a 18 goal target for next season and should that target be reached Pintado could find himself a firm fans favorite.

Pintado Told The WM:

"It is true the fans seemed to love me at Granada and I had a lot of songs for me - I'm not sure why but I scored a lot of goals for them and that does help. But I am also quite strong and I think the supporters in Spain enjoyed that. They called me 'El Toro', which means The Bull. My team-mates called me The Tank, but I preferred Toro and I'd be happy if the Swansea fans called me it because it means I was doing my job for my new team.

And I want to score goals - in my last three seasons. I got 18 every year and that's the kind of target I'd like here. That's how I got to get the love from the fans in Granada and it would be great if the same could happen here. I am from San Sebastián and I am a big fan of Real Sociedad so I know all about Toshack. And I know he was a hero here for what he did, but he is also a big favourite of mine because of Sociedad. Now I want to do well for Swansea myself and I am really looking forward to the new season and the challenge of playing in Britain.

But I don't think there will be any problems for me because my strength is my strength and I think that will be important here. I do not like letting go of the ball unless it is to my team-mate and I think I can do my job for Swansea City."

Tickets for Kristian O'Leary's testimonial game against premiership new boys West Bromwich Albion on August 2nd will be on sale from Monday. Only the West and East stands will be open which means Season Ticket holders are NOT guaranteed their seats. Tickets cost £15 for adults and £7.50 for concessions (full time student, senior citizens, disabled and children under-16). Family deals are available and for £25 for one adult and two children can take in the game whilst £40 will cover two adults and two children.
