Duffy Completes £100,000 Move To Bristol Rovers

Striker Darryl Duffy has completed his move to League One side Bristol Rovers.

The former Hull City forward passed a medical and has signed a 3-year deal worth around £100,000 to the Swans, £150,000 less than the fee we paid the Tigers for him a year ago.

It was obvious he was going to move on this Summer after an uneventful second spell at the Liberty Stadium.

He impressed 2 seasons ago on loan, scoring 5 goals in 5 games and the fans were eager for us to sign him permanently.

However, he failed to reach those heights the following year and struggled to perform alongside Jason Scotland.

Following a long spell on the sidelines, he made a few appearances towards the end of the season but a few decent performances wasn't enough to convince Martinez to keep him.

Darryl Duffy said:

'It's taken a while for the contract details to be sorted, but now I can sign and carry on with my career.

'I think coming here is something I had to do to stand a chance of playing first team football on a regular basis. Hopefully, if I do well enough, I can do that here.

'I was at Swansea for 14 months, so I guess you could say that it was short and sweet.

'The biggest factor in my move was that I just wanted to play football. I'm not interested in sitting in the stands, and with the size of the squad at Swansea, there were as many as 12 or 13 players sitting up in the stand on a matchday.

'Hopefully I can establish myself here and do well.'

Good luck to him in the future!

The style of play last season was not suited to him. When he made runs into spaces he was ignored. I wish him good luck with his new club.

He's been a good striker in the past, could be a good signing for Bristol Rovers.
