Derby Out Priced In Bodde Race

Rams chairman Adam Pearson has pulled out of the race to sign Ferrie Bodde for the second time.

Bids of £500,000 and £750,000 have been turned down for the want away midfielder but a fresh third bid from the pride park club was flatly rejected by Huw Jenkins who has now increased the price on Bodde's head to warn off any other potential suitors.

This has angered Pearson who has deemed this unacceptable and insists he will not be held to ransom over the fee. Roberto Martinez has received interest from premiership clubs Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion with talks with Boro's Gareth Southgate taking place. This withdrawal has cast more doubt on the players future but one thing is clear Pearson has defended his clubs contucst over the negotiation process.

Person Told The Derbyshire Telegraph:

''The goal-posts have moved - the price has gone up and we are not prepared to pay it. This is not acceptable. We will not be held to ransom. We have formally withdrawn our offer and will watch the situation. It is disappointing because negotiations have been going on for a long time. We felt a deal could be done and the player has said he wants to come to Derby County. We have shown by the way we have operated this summer that we can do deals promptly."

Bristol Rovers are expected to announce the signing of Darryl Duffy within the next week..

Does Pearson do anything else apart from moan??!!! Blaitantly the swans are not just going to accept their offer especially when there's premiership clubs interested.

Can't he get it into his head that Swansea do not want to sell, Swansea will do what's right them and i applaud that
cyjax
I think he will go to a Premiership club where he has said he wants to be. So why does he want to waste a season with Derby when he can be a premiership player this August.

Pearson must be a right idiot, all the way along the price has been £2m and yet he's criticising us for all of a sudden putting the price up? It's really simple, £2m and you can talk to Bodde about a deal, otherwise shut up.
