Serran: "Can't wait to get started"

Albert Serran has declared he cannot wait to get started at Swansea City after completing his move from Espanyol today.

After passing a medical this morning with club doctors the Barcelona born player put pen to paper on a long term performance related contract with the club.

Serran found himself surplus to requirements after new Espanyol manager Tintín Márquez took up his post at theEstadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Swans boss Roberto Martinez was quick to secure the highly regarded 24 year old despite competition from clubs in La Liga and Poland.

Serran has shown his delight in signing on at the Liberty Stadium and has admitted that he wanted to experience British league football. The defender has also revelled that Guillem Bauza's presence at the club was a factor that made him chose Swansea.

Serran Spoke On the Official Site:

'I'm pleased to sign for Swansea,'' explained Serran. I wanted the chance to experience British football and I'm sure I will be happy at Swansea. I was a close friend of Bussy (Guillem Bauza) when we played together for two years at Espanyol. Obviously his influence - and the Spanish influence at the club in general - helped me make my decision a lot easier to sign, but it was an opportunity too good to turn down. As a defender I like to play the ball out from the back, so Swansea's style should suit me. I've enjoyed the training here and I can't wait to get started.''''

Darryl Duffy is expected to complete his £100,000 move to Bristol Rovers within the next week.

Welshyboy, thats what i was hoping too. We know he's a defender but one what side? I hope he's a centre back too, although i am looking forward to seeing Williams and Monk at the heart of our defence. Monk will easily settle into the championship, he's like a rock!
