Rangel And Scotland To Undergo Surgery

Swansea City duo Angel Rangel and Jason Scotland face operations to correct persistent injuries.

Rangel has been suffering with hernia problem that saw miss the last three games of last season. Swans physiotherapist Richie Evans has indicated that the right back should be back for the first game of the season against Charlton Athletic on the 9th August. .

Meanwhile striker Jason Scotland is set to undergo surgery on a muscle injury but the recovery time for such an injury is significantly less than Rangel's lay off. Evans hopes that Swansea City's top goalscorer last term can be fit for a packed pre season tour of Spain.

Evans Spoke On the Official Site:

'Angel's injury is a typical sportsman's hernia. He felt it towards the end of the season and that's why we pulled him out of a few games. The symptoms got better and we have tried to treat it conservatively over the summer. But when he stepped up his pre-season programme he started to feel it again. Surgery is always the last resort, but if everything goes ok he should be back for the first game of the season.''

Jason picked up a stomach strain around Christmas time,.We left him out for two weeks and when he came back it wasn't causing him a problem. But he felt the symptoms again over the summer and we felt it was best to have the operation. We aim to get him back in time for the trip to Spain later this month.''

Meanwhile Ferrie Bodde has sensationally slammed Swansea City for their conduct in the ongoing transfer saga with Derby County.

Both sound like minor ops which is good. Not sure were our goals will come from this season, will Scotland settle in with championship style football? I'm not too sure. We need Rangel back for the start of the season, he's the most solid right back i've seen in a long time!

The rest will do Rangel good. It will do Scotland good to have a pre season with the new signings.
