Martinez Delighted By Serran Capture

Roberto Martinez has praised new Swansea City signing Albert Serran after the player passed his medical at the club this morning.

Signing on for £80,000 from La Liga side Espanyol the defender is highly regarded in his native Spain. Fellow countryman Martinez believes the defender ticks all the right boxes and has declared that Serran brings a different element to the squad.

Tracking the player for a number of months the former Wigan player has outlined the Barcelona born defenders key facets to his play. Aggressive and confident in one to one situations Serran will come under close scrutiny as the pace of the Championship can often be unforgiving and unrelenting but Martinez firmly thinks that the 24 year old has his best years ahead of him.

Martinez Told Sky Sports:

"We are delighted as we have been following Alberto Serran for a number of months now and we are delighted that he is coming to us because he brings something different to what we have got. He is highly rated in Spain, but he has a fantastic future and he ticks all the boxes to be a Swansea City player. "

We are delighted because he has given us an extra strength in an area we were looking to strengthen. With the amount of games you have in the British league you need to be strong in every area and I think we were a little bit thin in that area. Alberto is someone who is an aggressive defender, he is confident in one-on-one situations, he has a fantastic leap and is very comfortable on the ball. He gives us good competition in an area that we were a little bit light on numbers. I feel he has the best years of his career in front of him."

Meanwhile Ferrie Bodde has sensationally slammed Swansea City for their conduct in the ongoing transfer saga with Derby County.

I'm looking forward to seeing all Martinez's new defenders on show. He's signed quite a few defenders which is an area i thought we weren't too competent in last year (apart from monk of course)
