Swansea City have captured Espanyol defenders Federico Bessone and Albert Serran on permanent deals.
Signing on for the South Wales club on long term performance related deals Roberto Martinez has declared his new signings as premiership quality. Serran will sign on for a fee in the region of £80,000 whilst Bessone is arriving on a free transfer.
Serran has experience of playing in la liga with Espanyol and Martinez revelled Swansea beat off competition from other clubs to land the highly regarded defender. Bessone who began his career in the complex team system of Barcelona spent last term on loan to segunda B outfit Gimnastic de Tarragona. Whilst with Nąstic the Argentinian born defender made 10 appearances for the Catalan club.
Martinez Told The SWEP:
| Martinez On Serran "We're delighted to get these two because they're both very talented players. He had other options, but he decided he wanted to join us because of the following Swansea City have had in the last 12 months. He wanted to come here and we're delighted because we have signed a committed player who will suit the British game down to the ground." 'He is an aggressive defender, a winner, and he's someone who wants to play in the Premier League with Swansea. That's just a way to get a player for a lower fee, and value for money-wise Albert is a fantastic signing,' Martinez On Bessone: He has been developed superbly. And there's no doubt he has Premier League potential. He is a very attack-minded player who will bring us an extra dimension, something we didn't have last season. He has a great build and his strength is getting into the last third, which he's able to do because he has fantastic energy. He can play a similar role on the other side of the pitch. He is a typical Swansea player in that he starts everything from the back and he wants to look after the ball.' |
