Three New Arrivals Expected On Thursday

Swansea City are homing in on three new signings ready for next seasons championship campaign.

Arriving back from holiday refreshed for pre season training that will begin in earnest tomorrow , Roberto Martinez is said to be in advanced stages of negotiations with three players with only medicals needing to be completed with two unnamed players.

It has been widely thought that one of the players concerned is Spanish defender Albert Serran who looks set to arrive on a three year deal with a buy back clause from Espanyol. New los Periquitos manager Tintín Márquez had declared the Barcelona born defender surplus to requirements at the La Liga club to clear a move to South Wales.

Another target for Martinez is Southend United's out of contract midfielder Mark Gower who has been linked to a move to Swansea City for a number of weeks. Gower is thought to be a ready made replacement for Andy Robinson who left the club in a blaze of controversy to Leeds United.

Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson had offered the former Barnet player a new contract but with a championship side calling a deal with Swansea could prove to much of a lure for the midfielder. The third target is Fede Bessone an Argentinian defender. Martinez has been given a midfield boost with Paul Anderson declaring his interest in returning to the club despite interest from Nottingham Forest.

Martinez Told The SWEP:

''We are very well advanced with three players. With two of them. it's just a matter of getting the medicals done and then, hopefully, we will be able to present them on Thursday. Jordi and Gorka will be here. We expect two other new signings as well, while there is a little bit of a situation with the third one so we may have to wait a little while longer. The new lads all play in positions we have been trying to strengthen and we?re glad we?ve got the players we wanted."

Dennis Lawrence is expected to take a break after a gruelling world cup qualification campaign with Trinidad and Tobago.
