Club veteran and captain Garry Monk has backed the clubs position over Paul Anderson and Fabien Brandy who have yet made their decisions known where they will play their football next season.
It comes after Chairman Huw Jenkins sent a clear warning to the Liverpool and Manchester United youngsters, that they would pursue other targets unless a decision was forthcoming in the next few weeks. As the clock ticks down until the squad return for pre season training at the end of the month the more likely it seems that the duo will not return for a second loan stint at the Liberty Stadium.
Anderson is subject to interest from league rivals Nottingham Forest who were thought to have made a bid of £750,000 for the winger. However after talks with representatives and Liverpool the hugely influential player signed a long term deal with the Anfield club. It is widely believed that the winger will opt for a move to the City Ground which is closer to the Players home in Melton Mowbray.
Meanwhile Brandy who is set to return from Holiday could yet still take his place in Roberto Martinez's championship side.
Swansea captain has supported the clubs position over the ongoing situation regarding the pair but has been critical over Fabien Brandy declaring he believes the striker is yet to fully grasp the attacking role. Talking about the influx of new Spanish blood into the ranks at the South Wales club, the former Southampton player believes Jordi Gomez and Gorka Pintado will settle in well.
Monk Told The SWEP:
| 'It would be great if we could get Ando back, but that situation is out of the club's control. The club can only do what it's done and give them a chance to prove themselves at a higher level. I know Forest are interested in Paul and his old man lives in Nottingham and is keen for him to go there." 'In football, things don't always work out and if he doesn't come, I'm sure someone else will. Febian is still really young. His talent's still quite raw and I don't think he knows how to play a striker's role fully yet.The Championship will be much better than League One, but if Febian comes back I'm sure he's good enough to adapt.' Monk on New Signings Jordi Gomez and Gorka Pintado 'We have to try and get the new boys settled in. Everyone's been away so we haven't met them yet, but we'll make them feel welcome. There are plenty of Spanish boys here now, so there should be no problems.' |
