Scunthorpe Cool Watt Interest

League one outfit Scunthorpe United have cooled their interest in signing former Swansea City defender Steven Watt.

Watt signed for Swansea City on the 10th January 2006 from Premiership side Chelsea. Disappointingly the Banff born player only made four appearances for the club in his entire Swansea career. His last appearance for the club was in the 2-1 loss to Port Talbot Town in the FAW Premier Cup quarter final on the 15th January 2007.

Last summer Watt was given one last chance to impress and was sent on loan to Scottish Premier league side Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Making only one appearance for the Caley Jags last season through injury, the former Barnsley player failed to impress and a move by the Scottish club for the player was quickly dismissed by ICT boss Craig Brewster.

Glenn Cocoran, the defender's agent, has expressed his disappointment that the Iron have cooled their interest in his client.

Glenn Corcoran Told The Evening Telegraph:

"But for whatever reason, and we don't know why, Scunthorpe have decided they aren't interested in pursuing it any further. Steve's still only 23 and still has a real opportunity. He's a really good player and a very capable centre-back. In Scunthorpe's eyes, maybe they felt the fact that he's not played was potentially a reason they couldn't pursue it."

Roberto Martinez is expecting a decision on Paul Anderson's future today at the earliest and has hinted he would like to secure the services of the Liverpool winger next season.

Hope he can grab himself a club, he's had rotten luck the last couple of seasons!

Doesn't look as though any club will take a chance with him.
