Pardew Predicts Tough Opener Against Swansea

Charlton manager Alan Pardew has predicted a tough start at home to Swansea City in their opening fixture at the Valley on the 9th August.

Roberto Martinez and his squad earned rave reviews within footballing circles and gained a new found respect in the process. For the first time in 24 years Swansea City will grace the second tier of the British game after convincingly wining the league one title last season with games to spare.

As Martinez prepares to take the club into a new era it is befitting that an early reward is a game to one of the promotion favourites.Pardew believes that the game should give rise to a good atmosphere at the Valley.

Pardew Told The BBC:

"Obviously it's a tough start for us but it should be a good game and there should be a great atmosphere. Swansea impressed a lot of people last season and finished 10 points clear of their nearest rivals.."

Club officials have confirmed that they have broken the Season Ticket sales record with over 8000 season ticket sales to date. 10,000 sales have been targeted by the club as the clock ticks down on the season opener at home to Nottingham Forest..

Charlton struggled at home last season and only managed a draw with Scunthorpe on the opening day last term.
